Building Confidence

August 15, 2018

In today's world, there is no way to escape yourself from conversations and competitions.  To allow you to actually be yourself, and express yourself to people, without the feeling that you need to have self-confidence to do so.

Self-confidence is the belief in oneself and abilities, it describes an internal state made up of what we think and feel about ourselves.  The best thing is no one is born with it, you build it. You can improve your confidence and make a better self. Low confidence can result in shyness, communication difficulties

, social anxiety and lack of assertiveness.  A person with self-confidence generally likes themselves, is willing to take risks to achieve their personal and professional goals, and thinks positively about the future. So self confidence is a very important part in developing personality. Building self-confidence requires you to cultivate a positive attitude about yourself and your social interactions, while also learning to deal with any negative emotions that arise and practicing greater self-care.

"Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit." – E.E. Cummings

Some strategies can be used to develop self confidence. I have listed a few ways in which I can help you with that:

1. Love yourself and know your importance.

The very first main thing you need to do to build your self confidence is loving yourself and accepting you as you are. Trust me, sometimes we ourselves don't know what we actually want, and that becomes a big obstacle. You need to know your inner self better, your worth and capabilities too. Focus on your achievements and know you can always do more, there is no limit. But this can only happen if you start loving yourself, taking good care of yourself, and then you will be a push to your own self for a better you.

2. Making the decisions.

It's the hardest decision that you need to take for a better life. Obviously, you want to be better but working for it doesn't seem easy. Sometimes you are just one decision away from an absolutely different life. Take the decisions, cut out all the negativity, don’t push things in your life. Finally decide to be the best self. This can take your self confidence to the peak level.

3. Positive affirmations.

Talk to yourself, and tell yourself you are not less than others. You are a good and a worthwhile person. We maybe too generous with others, but sometimes we forget to compliment our own selves.

4. Keep your visions in front of you.

Give yourself some tasks, work on them and win your heart. Then aim bigger, and set the targets, keep your visions in front of you and start working for it.

5. Maintain a positive support network.

Connect with those close to you, whether they are family or friends, to keep your perspective uplifted. Furthermore, stay away from people or things that make you feel bad. Take some time to think which people actually matters to you and keep your circle small. Stay with people who motivate you and are supportive.

6. Identify your talents.

Discover the fields you are good at and then focus on your talents. Express yourself whether it is through art, music or writing. Find something you enjoy and cultivate talent to go with your interests. Keep learning new things and practice them. You will feel unique and accomplished which will actually help you to build self-confidence.

7. Keep yourself fit and eat healthy food.

This is one of the most important factor that affects self confidence. Inappropriate body shape or unhygienic food can severely drop your self confidence. Take a proper diet and take nutrients in the right proportion. Take out some time for regular exercises and walk for at least 30 minutes a day to keep yourself fit and healthy. Good body shape and active body will boost up your confidence level.

8. Stay determined.

Don't give up whatever happens. Do it for yourself, stay determined and keep working. Keep managing your mind, keep celebrating and enjoying success, and side by side learn to handle failures. Accept the mistakes you make and take the responsibilities.

In conclusion ask yourself if you're actually allowing what people could say to stop you from following your own heart. Recognize that haters can’t get to us when we feel confident and self-assured. The best way to avoid feeling victimized by the string of negativity is to improve your relationship with yourself.
